Newly released January 6 video footage obtained by Fox News host Tucker Carlson shows Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick walking around the capitol after he was supposedly killed by protesters.
Sicknick was walking around the capitol rotunda with a helmet on after he was reportedly struck in the head with a fire extinguisher and killed. A plethora of media outlets, including the New York Times, reported or implied that Sicknick was beaten to death by the January 6 protesters.
Carlson called it “the single most powerful and politically useful lie that Democrats have told us about January 6.”

Former President Donald Trump celebrated the segment, calling it one of the biggest “scoops” in U.S. history while demanding that the January 6 protesters be released.
“The Unselect Committee was a giant SCAM, and has now unequivocally been stamped as CRIMINAL FABRICATORS OF THIS MOST IMPORTANT DAY,” Trump posted on his Truth Social account. “Pelosi & McConnell failed on security. Disinfo Czar is Subpoenaed to Testify Before Congress on ‘Weaponization’ of Government
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) on Monday issued a subpoena to former Disinformation Governance Board head Nina Jankowicz. She is being called to testify as a part of the GOP investigation into the weaponization of the federal government.
Jordan issued a subpoena for Jankowicz, as well as former CEO of the National School Boards Association Chip Slaven, and National Assessment Governing Board Trustee Viola Garcia. Jordan had initially sent interview requests to the trio in late January.

FBI, Pentagon helped research facial recognition for street cameras, drones
Internal documents released in response to a lawsuit show the government was deeply involved in pushing for face-scanning technology that could be used for mass surveillance
The FBI and the Defense Department were actively involved in research and development of facial recognition software that they hoped could be used to identify people from video footage captured by street cameras and flying drones, according to thousands of pages of internal documents that provide new details about the government’s ambitions to build out a powerful tool for advanced surveillance.
The documents, revealed in response to an ongoing Freedom of Information Act lawsuit the American Civil Liberties Union filed against the FBI, show how closely FBI and Defense officials worked with academic researchers to refine artificial-intelligence techniques that could help in the identification or tracking of Americans without their awareness or consent.
Many of the records relate to the Janus program, a project funded by the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Agency, or IARPA, the high-level research arm of the U.S. intelligence community modeled after the Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, known as DARPA.

Russia fired 360 missiles from weapons systems including mortars and multiple-launch rocket systems at the Kherson region on Monday, authorities there said. Paramedics and police officers can no longer help many victims of shelling because they are coming under fire themselves, the Kherson city council said.

Briny Deep, based in Alexandria, Va., received a $210,000 part-time contract in late November to advise Australian defense officials during their negotiations to acquire top-secret nuclear submarine technology from the United States and Britain, according to Australian contracting documents. U.S. public records show the company is owned by John M. Richardson, a retired four-star U.S. admiral and career submariner who headed the U.S. Navy from 2015 to 2019.
China’s Foreign Minister Says Ties With U.S. Risk Going Off the Rails
China’s foreign minister warned that the U.S. strategy toward China risked plunging the countries into conflict and pledged to continue responding strongly to what he viewed as persistent attacks on Beijing by Washington.
In a news conference Tuesday on the sidelines of China’s annual gathering of its National People’s Congress in Beijing, Qin Gang said the Biden administration was being insincere when it said it wanted to erect guardrails around the relationship, warned the U.S. against engaging in “new McCarthyism” and praised China’s ties with Russia.
“If the United States does not hit the brakes but continues to speed down the wrong path, no amount of guardrails can prevent derailing and there will surely be conflict and confrontation,” said Mr. Qin, who was named foreign minister in late December after serving as China’s ambassador to the U.S. “Who will bear the consequences? Such competition is a reckless gamble.”

Newsom slams Walgreens, says California will cease doing business with company
California Gov. Gavin Newsom slammed Walgreens in a tweet Monday morning, saying California would no longer be doing business with the chain and linking to a CNN story about the company not distributing abortion pills to 20 states. “California won’t be doing business with Walgreens or any company that cowers to extremists and puts women’s lives at risk.”
“We’re done,” Newsom added in the tweet.
Walgreens last week announced it won’t sell abortion pills by mail to 20 conservative-led states.
